I agree with Alicia-there are lots of people who do not vote. And thats not all bad.
There is one person I know that most likely will not vote-and in my opinion, that is a good thing. They don't know nor do they care who or what is on the ballet.
I think people who do not know who the candidates are or what the issues are-should not vote. Unless, of course, I can show them MY sample ballet, (with my choices filled in) and show them who really matters (to me).
I believe that neighbors helping neighbors and family helping family get to the polling places is a good thing but when buses of "helpers" show up in critical states to "help" all they are doing is helping their canidate (all sides are guilty)
Nancy and I (and the rest of Turlte River) have already voted-We vote by mail- and in my opinion every one should do it that way We have a have a two week window in which to vote. No stress, no problem and most every one here votes.
Let the games begin.

Voting is not a privilege, it's a right. This is not China, so if you can get someone to vote for your guy or girl (legally, of course), so what? That's one of the perks of living in a free society, you have the RIGHT to legally influence people.
I lost my job today (I really did) it's crazy that it happened the day before the election and you would think now that it would change my vote because all Gov. Palin has been saying for the last 4 months is the phrase "job creation." So that should make me want to vote for her and Sen. McCain, but I just can't because the phrase "job creation" is a hollow, stupid, worthless thing that someone promises just to get votes and that is sickening.
How are they going to create jobs? Have us build stadiums and schools and other government buildings? Like a New New Deal? Whoops! FDR (a Democrat) already did that. Well that's not going to happen because all domestic construction is done by illegal immigrants. And before you disagree with me I have watched construction crew chiefs drive through Florida neighboorhoods loading Mexicans into the backs of their trucks. I have followed them with news reporters and confronted them on camera about hiring these guys. And if you think this only in the southern states, guess again. Illegal workers are everywhere.
I want to know how these lying double talking creeps can promise new jobs. Every time customer service is called your call is picked up in India or some other Asian country because American companies don't care about the American worker anymore, all they care about is having their factories in Mexico or China to crank out shoddy merchandise so they don'y have to pay anyone to make it.
Oh, and don't worry Republicans, I'm not going to run to my government for a "handout" because I lost my job today, I already have talked with people at WCCO TV about employment there so I won't be in YOUR pockets spending all of YOUR money. I'll be alright.
By the way, isn't voting "often" illegal too?
Your comments would be disheartening to me if I hadn't had the most amazing few weeks of my professional career. As many of you know I have worked hard on passing one of the most highly debated and controversial laws MN has passed in the past couple years. My experiences this last couple weeks has topped that many times. When groups and individuals take candidates, issues, and parties out of the equation when engaging voters is can truly be an amazing experience. Not only do we advocate for early registration, we assist in finding polling locations, having proper identification (which is developed by our Legislature) to vote and lastly provide NON PARTISAN resources that voters can become educated about issues that are important to them. Everyone that is a resident in MN, and over 18 has the RIGHT to vote in Minnesota. We do not have IQ requirements, religious requirements, income status, education based requirements etc. It would be a frieghting place if we did. I am happy for people to reflect about THEIR life, what is important issues to THEM (who am I to priortize important issues for anyone but myself) and help them navigate this system to utilize their voice. Hundreds of individuals have had barriers, misconceptions and fears lifted from the voting process directly because of the work myself and many VOLUNTEERS have done. We each have completely removed our personal biases for helping the greater good of our community.
