Oh, the humanity!

Is it ironic that thousands of turkeys were killed in a fire the day before Thanksgiving?

FRAZEE, Minn. (AP) - Thousands of young turkeys are dead after a fire near here.

Firefighters were called around 3 a.m. Wednesday to the New Life Farm, west of Frazee.

The fire broke out in a barn where 20,000 turkey chicks were placed Tuesday.

Damage to the barn was minimal, but Frazee Fire Chief Paul Thon says there was a substantial loss of young turkeys.

No one was hurt.

It took crews more than two hours to control the fire. Detroit Lakes firefighters assisted.

The exact number of turkeys killed and the cause of the fire have not been determined.
