For the first time in 23 years I don't have a kid going back to public school! It seems a little strange.
I miss the excitement of getting that new box of crayolas, pencils, notebooks, and clothing. The kids kinda kept me in the loop for what was "cool." How will I ever know now?
I am looking forward to going back to school myself as I am starting today teaching part-time at Sylvan Learning, & then next week, it is back to NTC (Northwest Technical College) in my college lab assistant position.
Dale has been working in his classroom for awhile now...and, next week we will be taking Katie to UMD, so for us the Fall schedule is starting to roll.
Embrace the remaining days of summer!

I'm sure it will be a weird felling being "empty nesters." I'm sure you'll soon get used to it and will find that you'll start enjoying other things in life that you just didn't have time for in the earlier years.
I started classes back up on Monday (8/22). I'm taking an accounting class and have my first psychology class tonight. I must say starting this year was much different than last year. Last year I was so nervous and excited because I hadn't been to school for 10 years -- this year on the other hand, I feel like summer ended way too fast and wished I had a couple of extra weeks just to get a few more things done and to have some fun!
Good luck to Katie on her new adventure at UMD!
Oops - that last comment was from me (Mandy). I must have logged in as Matt instead of myself. We obviously use the same username/password for many things!
School starts for me on Monday the 29th. So if you need a "what's cool" report Mandy and I should be able to give it to you.
Matt's in school too, but it's accountant school so there will be no signs of hipness to be seen. ;)
Hey now, that's not nice!!
I don't own a pocket protector or anything!
Well, maybe, we could pool our money & get you a pocket protector, Matt, or whatever! What exactly is a "pocket protector," anyway?
What kind of school is Pete going to?
We have been practicing being "empty nesters" occasionally for awhile, so it won't be cold turkey, and I am looking forward to it in a way. I will miss the busy house & kids dropping by & having a kid in a concert, etc. I guess that is why we have grandchildren...huh?
Aaron, Kate and I are more than thrilled to pass the tourch onto Kane. He can be your surrogate when ever your nest feels too empty.
A pocket protector is a plastic "sleeve" that lines your shirt pocket. You can stuff that pocket with pens without worrying about getting ink on your shirt.
An ingenious tool with a bad reputation. ;)
Oh, I remember pocket protectors...I thought they went "out" with the dark ages..!
Just for your guys' knowledge, my dad doesn't have a pocket protector either. He does however have a few shirts with ink stains, but he doesn't wear them anymore.
